Corporate Social Responsibility - other sectors

The Public Sector

Corporate social responsibility is as applicable to the public sector as the private sector as it goes to the heart of many of the initiatives that are a feature of this Government’s agenda.
Issues such as:

 Stakeholder engagement
 Inclusion
 Consultation
 Clients as consumers
 Increased communication
 Building strong communities
 Joined up working and strategic planning

The Voluntary Sector

Corporate social responsibility is also relevant to the voluntary sector as the way that an organisation engages with its stakeholders is of paramount importance here too.

Corporate social responsibility seeks to ensure that an organisation’s behaviour in every aspect of what it does is consistent with its ethical stand and values. For companies, it is no good having excellent policies on staff welfare in the UK if employees in the supply chain are subjected to abusive and unsafe conditions. In the same way, voluntary organisations can often run the risk of sending out conflicting messages. It is vital that thorough research underpin any campaign and communication.

For voluntary sector organisations, when researching we turn the tables and endeavour to assess the tools currently being used by the charity to attract corporate partnerships.
